The Garmin TT15X Tracking and Training Collar now has new features.
This is a screen shot from a Garmin TT15X collar tracking on 2.5 second intervals for 60 hours with a Garmin Alpha 200i.
TT15X Batteries and Battery Life Have Significantly Increased.
Garmin claims that the TT15X Track and Train Collar can run continuously for 80 hours. However, in our testing, we routinely get up to 5 days (120 hours) with 5 and 10 second update rates on our TT15X. If you use it, rescue mode will extend the battery life of your TT15X. When looking for a lost dog, every minute counts.
Rescue Mode is useful for those who find themselves in this situation. We were unable to test rescue mode battery life due to the already exceptional battery life of the Garmin TT15X Track and Train collar and a lack of collars to dedicate one to such a lengthy test.
The Garmin TT15X Track and Train Collars have a sleep mode.
Sleep mode is a new feature of the Garmin TT15X collar. Sleep mode allows the user to put the collar to sleep, conserving battery power when the collar is not being tracked. Similar to the TT15 Mini collars, a user can activate sleep mode remotely on a compatible handheld at any tracking distance.
Sleep mode is only available on the Garmin TT15 X collar and is not available on the Garmin TT15 collar.
Sleep Mode is now available on the tt15x garmin collar and T5X collars.
The software version of the Garmin TT15X and T5X collars can be seen when paired with an updated Alpha 200i or 200.
The 5.0 software for the Alpha 200i and Alpha 200, which was released on February 17th, pairs the TT15X and T5X collars via ANT rather than radio. What is the significance of this? Here are a few advantages of this new feature:
1. On the tt15x garmin collar and T5X, pairing via ANT allows the user to check the collar’s software version with their handheld.
2. Another minor feature of the ANT TT15X and T5X collar pairing is that the dog’s name is stored in the collar.
When pairing with an ANT-enabled device, any updated Alpha 200i or 200 pairing to an X series collar via ANT will automatically suggest the dog’s name to your system.
When plugged into a computer, the TT15X, unlike the TT15 collar, enters USB Mass Storage Mode. The original TT10 and TT15 collars could not be updated using an Apple or Mac computer. However, with USB mode, you can update the software using an Apple or Mac computer.
Note that the Garmin TT15 collar does not support USB mode; only the TT15 X collar does.
A Mac or Apple computer cannot be used to update a Garmin TT15 collar.
A GPS receiver with high sensitivity is mounted on the top.
It includes both standard and long-range stainless steel braid VHF antennas.
The Garmin TT15X can be tracked on the Alpha 200i, Alpha 200, Alpha 10, Alpha 100, and Astro 430 at the same time. To track the TT15X, make sure your Alpha 200i, Alpha 200, Alpha 10, Astro 430, or Alpha 100 software is up to date. This is simple to accomplish by downloading and running Garmin Web Updater or Garmin Express. Learn how to update your software by clicking here.
Working out with the Garmin TT15X collar:
The Garmin TT15X Track and Train Collar includes a Tri-Tronics training system with 18 stimulation levels. The TT15X has tone and vibrate modes in addition to momentary and continuous stimulation. Vibrate allows the user to correct a specific dog without the use of electric stimulation.
Using the Garmin TT15X collar to track:
The GPS receiver’s high sensitivity allows it to receive signals from GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) satellites. This adds 21 new satellites from which your collar can receive signals. This, along with the 28 satellites currently in the GPS system, brings the total number of satellites in the GPS system to 49.
Receiving signals from 49 earth-orbiting satellites aids in minimizing GPS location loss while hunting in dense cover or deep canyons.
With the TT15X collar, you can detect barking in the following ways:
When enabled, hunters can see the rate at which their individual dog barks, even if they are too far away to physically hear it. On both the map and compass screens, the status of each dog’s bark rate is displayed. The user can choose whether to display the bark counter scale on or off the map page, reducing clutter.
Users can also select a bark per minute (BPM) alert of 20, 40, 60, or 80. When a TT 15X is linked to an Alpha 200i, Alpha 200, Astro 430, or Alpha 100, it will alert you if your dog barks more than the selected BPM. When your dogs are out of hearing range and you’re trying to figure out whether they’re trailing or if the critter has jumped, this can be a useful tool.
Using the TT15X collar in Rescue Mode:
Rescue mode is a useful feature that has become standard on highly sensitive GPS dog tracking collars(
When the rescue mode is activated and the battery on the TT15X falls below 75% of its full charge, the update rate is automatically changed from the preselected update rate to 120 seconds (2 min). This provides many more hours of battery life to assist in the safe retrieval of your valued dog. You can also disable this mode if you don’t want to use it.
HF Antenna with TT15X Collar: Garmin connect Garmin express
The Garmin TT15X collar features the same antenna as the Garmin TT15 and TT10 collars, as well as a durable and flexible stainless steel cable antenna. The TT15X is available in both 18.5″ and 22.5″ sizes, with the 22.5″ coming pre-installed from the factory.
Using the Garmin TT15x and T5X dog tracking and training collars together.
The pairing process for the new TT15x is identical to the pairing process for previous TT15 and TT10 models. You can add your new Garmin TT15x to your dog’s list by going to the dog list and selecting “Add Dog,” then pressing and holding the power button to put the collar into pairing mode. This simple, straightforward, and well-known pairing procedure will have you up and running in no time.
Collar straps on the TT15X, which is modeled after the Garmin Alpha TT15, TT10, and T5, easily slide right through the channels on the TT15X battery box. This makes switching collar straps easier than ever before.
The TT15X dog tracking collar is compatible with all universal 1 inch D-ring straps. Choose from any of the 27 different colors offered exclusively by Double U Hunting Supply. Purchase these TT15X Replacement Straps separately.
The new Garmin Alpha TT15X collar will use the same charger as the TT15 collar, so you can keep and use all of the chargers you already have. The USB charging port provides three charging options: an AC outlet, a vehicle charging port, and a USB port on a computer. To update the TT15X, simply connect the charging clip, plug your TT15X into your computer, and launch the Garmin Web Updater.
With the TT15X Collar, you can make the following adjustments:
You can change the status of each of your individual dogs using the updated Alpha 200i, Alpha 200, Astro 430, or Garmin Alpha 100. You have the following options: 1) Pointing, 2) Treeing, 3) Auto, and 4) None are the available options. This alerts your Alpha or Astro that your dog may be on point or have game time when he or she is idle.
Power Button Positioning with the TT15X Collar:
The location of the power button on the bottom of the collar box protects it from being accidentally turned off by other collars or brushes. It will also help to keep it from getting damaged, which is common on DC30s and DC40s. Damage to the DC30s and DC40s sometimes lets moisture get into the battery box, which causes irreparable damage.
Antenna Sleeve with a TT15X Collar:
You’ll never have to use zip ties or tape to secure an antenna again with the TT15X, or the Garmin TT15 and T5. The new TT15X includes a thick, durable, and easy-to-clean rubber cover sleeve that keeps the VHF antenna upright and receiving communication signals.
